Huawei is rolling out January 2023 software update for Watch GT 2 and Watch GT 2 Pro smartwatches in China. This rollout began earlier this month in the global market to improve the smartwatch’s performance.

Huawei Watch GT 2 is receiving January 2023 software update with versions 11.2.17.6 and 11.0.17.6 upgrading from 11.2.16.10 and 11.0.16.10 respectively. Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro is getting build version 11.0.11.6 and 11.2.11.6 versions, upgrading from 11.0.10.8 and 11.2.10.8 respectively for the smartwatch.

The changelog reveals that the Huawei Watch GT 2 and Watch GT 2 Pro are getting the system optimization update for improved services. However, there are no other changes found in the firmware.

How to update:

  1. Due to version restrictions, you first need to upgrade to 11.2.16.10/11.0.16.10, otherwise, you won’t receive the version push.
  2. In order to receive a better user experience, it is recommended to update the “Huawei Health” app to the latest version, which you can find over AppGallery.
  3. Open the Huawei Health app > tap on the connected device on the screen > enter the device details page > tap on check firmware update > and update to the latest version.
  4. The smartwatch update process may take a long time. Please wait for the progress bar on the device side to complete. The device will automatically restart after the system is updated.
  5. Before the upgrade, keep sufficient storage space, and the power of the smartwatch should be above 20%.
  6. During the OTA package transferring process, ensure that the Bluetooth connection between the watch and the mobile remains stable, and don’t operate the smartwatch during the installation.
