Huawei to reportedly challenge US as 5G RAN market recovers

Omdia has shared a report on the 5G RAN market recovery and how it could affect Huawei and the US telecoms. The report also forecasts the upcoming changes in the Chinese OEM’s network market share and growth outside its home ground.
Despite bans in different countries, the Chinese firm established an advanced network empire better than many foreign network companies. It looks like Huawei is now ready to defy the US and its boundaries as the 5G RAN network began recovering.
Huawei has been the world’s largest supplier of RAN products and services last year. The company achieved a market value of $35 billion in China in 2024. Being on its home turf, the company outpaced Ericsson and Nokia in the network race.
A senior analyst in Omida mentioned that a more favorable regional mix, as well as market share gains in emerging markets, helped Huawei to grow its network product sales. These conditions may continue in the current year, probably outside China.
The report mentioned that the ups and downs in the 5G RAN (radio access network) market appear to be ending. Over the past two years, the market has seen a layoff of $5 billion outside China. But the situation will change gradually in 2025.
Omida predicted that though the 5G RAN market is recovering, the sales will be essentially flat this year and follow a low single-digit percentage growth outside China.
US companies like Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T will again start spending on RAN technologies. The overall capital is seemingly greater than the previous year.
Remy Pascal – the senior analyst of Omida, said that he sees a positive growth for the 5G RAN market in Asian markets, Latin America, and Africa. Besides, Europe may face issues as it is still out of the lines that are booming in the network world.
The top five tech giants in the network world are Huawei, Ericsson, Nokia, ZTE, and Samsung. While Huawei continues to deal with US sanctions, it is regarded as the chief rival by many competitors, including Ericsson.
The new changes in the RAN market will further enable Huawei to elevate its 5G product standards and give a tough fight to its foreign opponents in the network race.
