Huawei and Samsung are leading brands when it comes to folding devices but as per the latest report, it looks like the Chinese tech maker is likely to overtake the South Korean firm in the Q1 2024 foldable phone shipments race.

Ross Young on X (Twitter) has recently shared a new report on the ‘folding smartphone market in Q3 2023’. Even though Samsung has the highest contribution in accelerating the growth of the foldable market, the report suggests that it will see a significant decline in the share by the fourth quarter of 2023.

Meanwhile, Huawei is emerging in good sights and is expected to lead the foldable phone shipments race from Q1 2024, surpassing Samsung with its ultimate creations.

Adding more details, Ross predicted that Samsung’s brand share could fall to 42% in Q4 2023 due to lower-than-expected shipments for the Z Flip 5 and Fold 5. On the other hand, Huawei and Honor can take a big share in the fourth quarter of 2024 with a leap of 21% and 19% respectively.

Ross said that Huawei’s panel procurement will be larger than Samsung’s as it doubles down on the foldable market. Devices like Mate X5 and flip-flop Pocket models have already made a special space in consumers’ hearts.

Besides, the Chinese tech giant is all set to bring a new 5G solution to the smartphone surface. Thus, BOE is likely to overtake SDC in large volume at Huawei, and other Chinese brands.
