During the HarmonyOS Eco Spring event, Huawei confirmed that it will launch the HarmonyOS NEXT beta in June this year at the HDC 2024 conference. Perhaps consumers need not wait much to experience a new phase in their devices.

Huawei Consumer Business Group CEO Yu Chengdong mentioned that the company will conduct the most-awaited Huawei Developers Conference (HDC) in June 2024.

He added that at the same stage, the firm will announce the HarmonyOS NEXT beta recruitment program with a wide range of advanced features and capabilities alongside the overall upgrade plan for devices and other relevant details.

Thus the wait for testing HarmonyOS NEXT beta version on phones and tablets will end in June this year. Huawei even shared a post on Weibo announcing the news:

“HarmonyOS native application development continues to accelerate! #HarmonyOSNEXT #HongmengGalaxy Edition will open beta at the Huawei Developer Conference #HDC2024 in June 2024. You are invited to attend this global developer event.”

Huawei opened the developer preview program in January this year for three high-end devices – Huawei Mate 60, Mate 60 Pro, and Mate X5. As the term reflects, this activity remain confined only to developers so they can adapt the new OS for their apps.

The company cited that it will initiate the HarmonyOS NEXT closed beta by the second quarter of this year, while an official release might show up in Q4 2024.

Good news is that many app developers have adapted to the beta version of HarmonyOS NEXT, while a few have even reached the official build. Overall, the HarmonyOS NEXT is in full swing and we just have to wait for official data on this matter.
