Huawei testing quantum encryption to improve internet security

Huawei has been exploring ways to improve internet security, and one such solution is quantum encryption. The company has recently tested the new technology and found it safe for transmitting data from one point to another without interruptions.

Unlike the normal encryption that codes the data, the quantum encryption relies on the principles of quantum mechanics to protect data transmission. It also offers a security level that is theoretically unbreakable even by quantum PCs.

The main aim of testing quantum encryption is to prevent attacks during data transmission. It monitors hackers’ activities and halts the attack if it detects any malicious action on the server or someone spying on your messages.

Huawei further described why this tech is significant:

“For large enterprises, especially those in the financial industry, security is one of their main concerns for dedicated lines. The use of security technologies such as quantum encryption for transaction data transmission is likely to become a mandatory national and industry standard.”

Huawei tested the quantum encryption for internet security on March 27. It completed the test in collaboration with a leading Asia-Pacific internet operator.

The company used its new-gen router, a quantum key transmission solution (based on ETSI interface), and a smartphone to conduct the respective test.

Details reveal that Huawei’s new technology met all expectations. It showed the process of using quantum keys, fast and reliable encryption, and an efficient forwarding process. It can operate effectively in real-time scenarios.

The test verified its support for the Huawei SRv6 solution without any interruptions. Quantum encryption is all set to enter real-world usage scenarios. It fulfills forwarding, reliability, delay, and jitter expectations and can be used in bans and large enterprises.
