On the 23rd of July 2021, Huawei released a new patent for determining the depth of inert water, which was applied by the company on the 3rd of March this year. This new patent will be proved another significant step towards the company’s strategy of making more advanced smart vehicles.

This new patent is entitled the “method and device for determining the depth of inert water” has the publication number CN113168535A. It is designed to identify the depth of the water accumulation area to avoid any possible mishappening.

Although, the automotive industry has developed many advanced technologies, which brings extra convivence for the users. But, when it comes to crossing through water accumulated areas, only the driver’s knowledge is considered to be safe.

To reduce any vulnerability in the water accumulated area, Huawei introduced this new technology. As per the patent description, this method will follow the below-mentioned procedure to gain the desired result-

  1. First, capture the images of the present inert water road
  2. Then, analyzes the image to extract valuable information
  3. Now, obtain the spatial location of the edge of the inert water
  4. Afterward, obtain the road slope angle
  5. Thereafter, determines the inert water and road position corresponding to the maximum water depth of the area using the recommended algorithms

Hence, the spatial location, road slope angle, and position, maximum water depth, and maximum inert water depth are determined.

Application Area:

The Huawei inert water patent method will specifically provide help for the autonomous driving system and contributes to more enhanced in-vehicle capabilities. Furthermore, it’ll cover the internet of vehicles that includes-

  • V2X: vehicle outreach
  • LTE-V: long-term evolution of vehicle communication technology
  • V2V: Vehicle-Vehicle
