Huawei significantly drives Q1 2025 global smartphone market revenue: Counterpoint

Counterpoint has recently released the global smartphone market revenue report for Q1 2025, in which Huawei has played a significant role. Apart from the top five rankers, the Chinese tech giant also contributed to the global phone segment’s rise.

The report shows that the global smartphone market revenue has grown by 3% YoY in Q1 2025 – thanks to Apple, vivo, and brands like Huawei for this achievement.

According to the details, tech vendors like Huawei, Google, and Motorola led a double-digit growth of the global phone segment revenue. These three brands have pointed out their strategic expansion in the global phone sector for the first quarter.

Senior analyst at Counterpoint, Shilpi Jain, said:

“Apart from Apple and vivo, the growth in revenue came primarily from brands outside the top five, such as Google, Motorola, and Huawei, signaling the ability of other brands to offer a higher value mix and their expanding role in the ongoing premiumization trend.”

Huawei’s role

In the past few months, the Chinese OEM has launched many new phones globally. The Mate X6, Mate XT tri-fold, and the Nova 13 series are the top models gaining attention in the overseas market for their impressive design and AI features.

On the other hand, Pura 70 Ultra is still considered the best smartphone in the global market with tech-pack camera capabilities and amazing triangle-like camera bump.

The company has once again ignited the Kirin chip power in the overseas market. Now, it eyes a significant expansion in the global market, giving a tough spot to its foreign competitors. But it will take time following the chip and tech conflicts.
