Huawei secured second place in 2024 Chinese Cloud market ranking

Huawei has captured the second spot in the H2 2024 Chinese Cloud Market listing. The company is not only making new milestones in the smartphone or consumer business, but also achieving new heights in the cloud services and tech segment.

IDC has recently released a new report announcing the top five rankers in the Chinese Cloud market for H2 2024, and Huawei has entered the top-three ranking list.

This time, AI has contributed highly to the public cloud market to recover and make progress in China. The growth scale reached 94.82 billion with a hike of 13.8% YoY.

Speaking of the ranking, Huawei came second in the Chinese Cloud Market for the second half of 2024. The company remained in the top three ranking for the entire year. It could be a concern for those who expected the OEM to be first.

The company has obtained 13.2% of the market share among China’s top 5 public cloud IaaS (infrastructure as a Service) vendors in the second half of last year.

According to the pie chart, Huawei’s share in H2 2024 is slightly less than the share in the first half of the year. Though we may witness more positive growth this year, driven by AI technologies and advanced computing power.

IDC report shows Alibaba at the first rank with a 26.1% market share in the second half of 2024. It has significantly increased its R&D investment and boosted efforts in the Tongyi series large models as well as AI infrastructures.

China Telecom secured third place with 13.1% market share, China Mobile appeared at the fourth spot with 9.3% of the market share, and Tencent came fifth in this race with 8.1% market share.

The report says that AI will become the focal point in the computing and cloud segment in 2025. It adds that the integration and upgrading big AI models will become the main focus for vendors to ensure a healthy development in the market.
