Huawei rumored to delay Pura 80 till July and Mate 80 to next year
Huawei Pura 80 series is rumored to be delayed till July 2025. The latest rumor suggests that the company might have different plans for this year’s flagship handsets. This “delay” change can also be seen for the Mate 80 smartphones.
A long list of Huawei products is in the making, including the Pura 80 series. While the top-end lineup was expected to launch in May this year, it may get postponed.
Weibo tipster @PengPeng predicted that Huawei could delay the Pura 80 series by July this year. The device can still go official in May or June. But the launch may eventually be pushed back by a month due to unknown reasons.
The rumor suggests a similar situation for the Mate 80 series. As per details, the next Mate models could debut either by the end of this year or probably next year.
Meanwhile, the company is expected to cover this gap with the second-gen Mate XT tri-foldable, two Nova smartphone series, Pocket 3 vertical folding phone, and more.
The Mate 70 series debuted in November 2024. The device was said to launch in September. But the company booked that month for its tri-fold. Later, the Nova 13 line made its way in October, which eventually shifted Mate 70’s release date.

Mate 80 coming in September?
An early input claimed that Huawei Mate 80 series will debut sooner than expected this year, possibly in September. But the latest rumor contradicts the statement.
Note that these launch details are just speculations. Huawei mostly teases its devices one or two weeks before the official release, confirming their existence. Hence, it won’t be right to jump to conclusions based on these inputs at present.
Huawei used to launch a P/Pura and Mate series once every year. The OEM has been following this strategy for a while. We may see the continuation this year as well.
The Chinese phone maker is currently busy with the development of the Pocket 3 foldable, Nova 14, and Pura 80 series. Whether the flagship model will be delayed or launched as initially anticipated will be known soon.
