Huawei global comeback Kirin chip

Huawei is now targeting a global comeback after gaining a significant foothold in the Chinese smartphone market, via its Kirin chip. The firm already made the first move in this direction with the Mate X6 launch and many more steps seem in the way.

A recent report shed light on how Huawei is trying to level up its status in the global smartphone market. The tech maker surprised its global customers with the Mate X6 foldable release in December last year following a gap of two years.

The OEM unveiled the foldable in limited countries with limited smart features. Yet it grabbed immense attention for its ‘most powerful’ Mate foldable in history.

But something more noticeable is the Kirin chip presence in the global market. This time, the company revealed the name of its device’s processor on many sites.

Looks like Huawei is well-prepared for its global comeback with the Kirin chip power. The company will likely use its self-developed processors as the main pole to jump back into the global smartphone market and firm its legs in the pool.

Kirin Chip Power

Huawei is gradually improving its Kirin chips. The company launched Pura 70 series with Kirin 9010 5G chip. Now it has brought Mate X6 with Kirin 9020 5G.

Compared to the Kirin 9000s as well as 9010 5G chipset, the new Kirin 9020 processor delivers 40% improved performance. It also provides a powerful gaming experience and efficiency in heavy tasks.

The tech giant has developed the Kirin 9020 5G chipset with few extraordinary techs. For instance, it equips the industry’s first 3GPP R18 5G-A SoC, 50% more efficient small cores, and 20% more efficient medium cores. The configuration is:

  • Kirin 9020: 2 x 2.5GHz + 6 x 2.15GHz + 4 x 1.6GHz

Huawei still lags behind its global rivals. While the world is heading towards 2nm chips, the company is still struggling to build a 5nm processor. Yet, it claims to offer the best smartphone experience even in a low-chip process tech.

Again, Huawei has only unveiled the Mate X6 foldable in the market while the Mate 70 models are still locked behind the Chinese gates. But we can expect that the company will soon build a route to re-enter the global smartphone market by the end of this year.
