Huawei reveals major chip performance boost for Pocket 2 Premium model

Huawei has now shed light on the Pocket 2 Premium Edition’s performance. The company revealed how the new device can offer a better user experience over the previous-gen vertical foldable phones, but is slightly inferior to the original variant.
P50 Pocket is the company’s first-ever clamshell product. The device made its debut in December 2021. Over time, Huawei unveiled many flip-flop models like Pocket S, Pocket 2, and now the ultimate Pura X flagship folding smartphone.
The company is now ready to add a new variant to the Pocket 2 family – the Pocket 2 Premium Edition. Ahead of its official sale, the company revealed the upcoming variant’s performance.
According to the Huawei Customer Service moderator, Pocket 2 Premium Edition can deliver a 15% performance boost over the P50 Pocket. But that is slightly less than the original version, which brings 20% increased performance than P50 Pocket.
Details suggest that the new Premium Edition will be inferior to the main Pocket 2 variant in performance. The case is somewhat similar to the Mate 70 Pro and its Premium version. There will be a difference in performance, but it’ll be negligible.
The moderator further adds that apart from the performance, the rest of the features like photography, camera functions, and reliability will be similar to Pocket 2.
Here’s the translation:
“Compared with P50 Pocket, the overall performance of Pocket 2 has increased by 20%, and the overall performance of Pocket 2 Premium Edition has increased by 15%. In terms of functions and feature support, such as photography and reliability, Pocket 2 and Pocket 2 Premium Edition are consistent.”
Pocket 2 Premium Edition chip details are currently unknown. But early inputs hint that the device will bring the Kirin 9020A processor on board.
The new version will officially be available for sale on June 26. Perhaps we will grab more details about the device’s chipset after the official sale event.
