Huawei reportedly increasing flat screen orders for future flagship smartphones

Huawei is allegedly increasing the demand for flat-screen panels for its next flagship smartphones. While the company launched many devices with a curved panel last year, it is now seemingly switching to the straight screen component.
Weibo tipster @DigitalChatStatiion says that Huawei has started collecting 2.5D flat screen panels in large quantities, probably for the future flagship smartphones.
2.5D refers to a screen glass design that has a flat appearance in the center but rounded or curved edges. These screens provide a smoother and more comfortable viewing experience compared to other types of screen panels.
Apart from the flat screen, the company may adopt a new middle-frame design instead of the right-angle frame used for the Mate 70 series phones, creating a 90-degree angle and offering a slimmer frame than the previous-gen models.
The tipster added that the upcoming flagship lineup could bring two models with 6.78-inch and 6.85-inch flat display panels (1.5K resolution). The tech giant is currently developing Pura 80 hence, these two models could be standard/Pura 80 Pro.

At the same time, a rumor suggested Huawei may ditch the quad-curved screen for the Mate 80 Pro in favor of a flat display. Looks like the company will opt for a straight display for two of the flagship series variants instead of keeping it confined to standard handsets.
Earlier, Huawei used to adopt curved screens for Pro/Pro+ and Ultra or RS Ultimate models while using flat displays for standard phones. However, this strategy may change with the upcoming Pura and Mate flagship devices.
Whether Pura 80/Pro will feature a flat display or a curved one is currently unclear. The devices will debut in late May or early June 2025, putting an end to the confusion.
