Huawei remained unstoppable in 2024 amid mounting challenges
2024 has been the year of innovation in the Huawei world. Whether we talk about smartphones, cars, chips, or the biggest trend – AI. The year has also welcomed challenges in full swing, but Huawei remained just unstoppable in 2024.
This year, the Chinese tech giant mainly focused on two I’s – Innovation and Improvements. Huawei showed immense creativity with its devices in 2024 while improving its semiconductor technology rather than taking any advanced steps.
Despite constant pressure from the U.S. authorities regarding new creations and chipset manufacturing, the company continued to move ahead in 2024.
Looks like Huawei entered 2024 intending to be unstoppable regardless of the challenges coming its way. Let’s dive into how the company molded its strategies to achieve victories in every sector amid complex and tricky hurdles.
I for Innovation
Starting with Innovation, the company brought in three major products this year that not only resemble innovation but also hype the company’s self-sufficiency.
HarmonyOS NEXT
The first in the list counts – HarmonyOS NEXT. After years of Android use, the company broke the dependency on foreign software in favor of its self-developed, improved, and better-than-ever software system. The OS runs on China-made components like the Harmony kernel, Cangjie programming language, and more.
It is a perfect combination of AI and security. HarmonyOS NEXT not only brings convenience to your fingertips but also improves security to the next level. Apps are faster, smoother, and way more easy-to-understand than ever before.
Huawei also launched the native HarmonyOS app ecosystem ensuring that the new OS can help consumers in every manner. This exits Android from Huawei world. After smartphones, the company is planning to use HarmonyOS for its PCs.
Mate XT: world’s first tri-fold
One of the best products in the smartphone industry is the Huawei Mate XT. After a year of designing and 5 years of planning, the company showed ‘true innovation’ to its rivals like Samsung and Apple with the triple-foldable handset.
The tri-fold uses the first dual-hinge technology for the smoothest opening and closing operations. It is 12.8mm thick and brings an aesthetic feel in red + gold color.
Huawei Mate XT tri-fold even dimmed the glow of the iPhone 16 series with its unique Z form factor and received 3 million pre-orders within a couple of days. It also won “Best Design” and “Best Inventions of 2024” awards.
Mate 70 series – the most powerful Mate in history!
And the latest addition to this innovation list is the Mate 70 series. Huawei launched its flagship lineup last month, showing the real use of AI. It comes with an air gesture file-sharing feature, HarmonyOS NEXT, a quad-camera setup, and more.
Mate 70 is not only a beautiful handset but also the most powerful phone. It offers 40% improved performance, faster network speed, and a tougher body than the previous-gen models. You can check the top features of Mate 70 Pro+ HERE.
I for Improvements
Apart from innovation, the company has focused on improving its chip tech to the best level. Huawei knew that the U.S. would continue to suppress it and limit the high-tech chip equipment under new trade regulations. Hence, the OEM decided to stick to the 7nm process instead of making a 6nm or 5nm processor.
The decision seemed a good one as making a new chip process would have led to supply problems and resulted in the Mate 70 delivery delay. But still, the company made effective progress.
Kirin 9020
Kirin 9020 is the perfect example of this improvement. It has better gaming performance and power efficiency than Kirin 9010. The company has keenly adjusted the performance cores of the new processor making it powerful for Mate 70 models.
Ascend 910C
Ascend 910C is another example in this list which is currently in the sample testing stage. The new AI chip aims to eat up Nvidia’s share in the Chinese chip market.
U.S. authorities on the other hand began investigating TSMC to understand loopholes for Huawei. It even phrased new rules that can keep Huawei and China away from the advanced technologies. But the Chinese OEM is ready to pace on its self-sufficiency path.
Huawei has also taken major leaps in the automobile sector and launched a new Qiankun smart solution series. It brings ADS 3.0 which is the highest demand among carmakers not only in China but among global automobile companies as well.
Overall, Huawei remained unstoppable in 2024 despite major challenges. It will likely keep this journey on in 2025 as well.
