Huawei remained a strong competitor for phone makers in 2024: Report

Counterpoint has now shared the review of the smartphone market recovery in the last year. Some brands saw a good hike while others went flat due to fierce competition. Although Huawei remained a strong competitor for its rivals in 2024.
The research firm stated that Huawei regained most of its shares in China last year. The company made a strong comeback in the 2024 Chinese smartphone market.
Further details highlight that many phone makers in China faced aggressive competition from Huawei in 2024. Brands like Xiaomi, OPPO, and even Apple struggled with sales performance in Chinese smartphone ground due to Huawei.
Huawei introduced several unexpected products last year. With the onset of 2024, the company showed its power in the form of HarmonyOS NEXT. It proceeded with devices like Pocket 2, flagship Pura 70, and Nova Flip mid-range foldable.
Later that year, the OEM surprised everyone with the world’s first tri-fold: the Mate XT. Finally, the most-awaited Mate 70 handsets landed by the end of 2024.
Even though the company still has a lot of room for improvement. Yet, the above-mentioned products gave a bit of stress to top tech makers like Honor, Apple, and more. Thus, Huawei appeared as a strong competitor for its rivals in the 2024 Chinese smartphone market.
“The top 5 remained the same as in 2023 but lost some share to aggressive competition from Huawei.” – says Counterpoint.
Counterpoint adds that global smartphone sales grew by 4% last year which is a good sign. 2024 mainly remained a year of recovery for the smartphone industry. Almost all markets like Europe, China, and Latin America showed growth.
Samsung remained at the top with the Galaxy S24 series strong demand. On the flip side, Apple received a moderate market response due to the absence of Apple Intelligence. However, the iPhone maker may see a good uplift in the coming months.
