Huawei ranks second in the global smartwatch market, records 118% on year growth in Q1 2020: IDC

IDC has published new data regarding the global smartwatch shipment for the first quarter of 2020, recording a total of 16.9 million units with a year on year decrease of 7.1%.

Among the top 5 brands, Huawei now placed in second place with 2.6 million units shipments, 15.2% of the total market share, and record growth of 118.5%, which is more than any other smartwatch maker in the list.

Apple topped the list with 4.5 million units shipment, 26.8% total market share with a 2.2% growth decline. Samsung comes third with 1.8 million shipments, 10.8% market share, and 7.2% decline.

In addition, Huawei has also shipped some good numbers in its overall wearables including 8.1 million of total shipments worldwide in Q1.

According to IDC, the global shipments of wearable devices grew 29.7% year over year during the first quarter of 2020 and total shipment volume reached 72.6 million units.
