Huawei has ranked as a leader in the Core and Metro WDM ranking report, published by Globaldata. The Chinese tech giant obtained this achievement due to its OptiX OSN 9800 series which bears prominent features and high-end performance.

WDM refers to the Wavelength Division Multiplexing. It is a technology that combines several optical carrier signals into one fiber by using distinctive wavelengths of laser light. It further strengthens two-way communications over a single thread of fiber.

According to the report, the Huawei OptiX OSN 9800 series has surpassed many tech vendors in the Core and Metro WDM ranking and achieved the ‘Leader’ badge. The product has scored the highest grades for line ports, switching features, port and transmission capabilities, as well as network management.

Eventually, the OptiX OSN 9800 series works in integrated transmission conditions. For instance, operators can use the product at high-speed interconnection between data centers, home broadband, phone bearing, and enterprise private lines.

Apart from the OSN 9800 series, the Chinese tech maker also launched the Super 800G ultra high-speed solution. It supports 1.2T programming and is developed with coherent optical subassembly packaging tech. It helps in boosting the transmission distance by 20%.

On the flip side, it uses the industry’s first OTN Kepler platform which can increase the subrack capacity by 100 Tbit/s and is highly energy efficient.

Huawei says that it will continue to work on innovative optical transmission solutions to enable carriers to easily deal with heavy traffic and improve cost reduction, and energy efficiency.
