Huawei Pura X redefines portrait shots with new AI retouch feature

Huawei Pura X has surprised customers with its unique form factor. But apart from design, the device also brings impressive photography skills to the table. Today, we’re up with one such Huawei Pura X feature called AI Portrait tool.

AI has become an important trend in the technology world, and Huawei is making the best use of it in its devices. With Pura X, the company has given a new twist to the photography segment by using the latest AI capabilities.

This twist is significantly visible in the Huawei Pura X AI portrait feature. As the term says, the tool aims to enhance the portrait shots and make them more aesthetic.

Portrait photography or portraiture is a minimal shot that aims to capture the subject or a person’s personality/group by using effective lighting, poses, and backdrops.

It utilizes photographic techniques like lighting, exposure, shadows, and compositions of the subject. Thus, you get the perfect blurry background and clear subject finish in every shot. Although Huawei has redefined this aspect with Pura X.

Huawei has introduced a new AI Portrait Retouch feature with the newly launched foldable phone. The tool smartly analyzes the entire scene and automatically optimizes light and shadows, creating a perfect focus on the subject.

At the same time, it blurs the background, adjusts the tone, and enhances the composition to offer a new look to the portraits. All you have to do is select your imperfect portrait images and watch them become perfect.

How to access AI Portrait Retouch?

The feature is currently available on the Huawei Pura X vertical folding phone. But the company may soon push this feature to more eligible devices via HarmonyOS 5.0

Users can access this feature by heading toward the Gallery of Pura X. Now select the portrait picture you want to retouch. Click on edit and tap on the “Regenerate” tab given below the edit area. You can further add filters as per your choice.

Apart from portraits, the company has also enhanced the way to take selfies on clamshell phones. It allows the cover screen to preview your expressions and movements in real time, making it easy to take good and beautiful snaps.
