Huawei Pura 80 video teaser shows 20x periscope camera capabilities

Huawei confirmed a 20x periscope camera for the upcoming flagship Pura 80 series today through a teaser. The company has shared a new video on its official Weibo page, flaunting the camera capabilities of the next-gen Pura smartphones.

Pura 80 series has been in rumors for a while to use a 10x optical zoom periscope camera. The imaging spec was expected to be exclusive for the Ultra variant.

Now Huawei has dropped a new video teaser implying that all Pura 80 models can feature a 20x periscope camera. The clip shows amazing details and clear shots of the distant subjects, as if they are sitting right in front of your eyes.

The company said:

“Far more than that, it is just around the corner. June 11, 2025, at 14:30 #HuaweiPura80# series and full-scenario new product launch conference, please look forward to it! #HarmonyOS5”

Looking into the teaser, the video shows that the Pura 80 smartphone can zoom up to 20 times. Based on the early leaks, it is the first device in the industry to feature a dual-focal length lens that can deliver 10x and 20x optical zoom capability.

As a result, the far-away subjects get captured in more detailed and clearer shots than ever before. It will further offer a smooth blur effect to the background, making the images more aesthetic and beautiful.

Dual-focal length periscope is said to have a high-optical sensitive module that adopts a multi-fold optical structure design. This mechanism aims to control different light paths via movable components and enables varied optical focal lengths.

It is unclear if the new dual-focal length 20x periscope camera is exclusive to the high-end Pura 80 variants. Or, it will be standard for all the models. Although it is visible that the company has significantly upgraded the periscope aspects with the new smartphone lineup.
