Huawei Pura 80 Ultra teardown unravels dual-periscope camera mystery

Pura 80 Ultra teardown video is now live, showing what’s inside the new Huawei flagship phone! The smartphone’s design has already impressed a ton of consumers. But the highlight of this device is its dual switchable periscope camera tech.

A Weibo tipster has recently performed the teardown of the Huawei Pura 80 Ultra to unravel the mystery of the unique periscope camera. During the disassembly, the blogger found some interesting segments about the new top-end handset.

Looking into the fine details and crafting of the device, the tipster said that the Pura 80 Ultra is a piece of sophisticated art. It has not only excelled in terms of beauty but also in durability aspects.

The back steel cover of the device is so hard that the tipster required a sharp electric cutter to open the device. He revealed the immense difficulty of dismantling the smartphone by saying, “I can’t cut it, I can’t cut it at all.”

Further details in the teardown video reveal the internal gear structure of the dual-telephoto lens. It seems no less than a work of art with a fine layering of components. The structure also shows two telephoto cameras sharing one sensor.

Both telephoto cameras have a switchable mechanism, which is possible with the industry’s first ultra-precision dual-optical path movable tech. It ensures that the lenses remain stable and reliable while switching their positions.

Apart from the camera segment, the teardown video gave a glimpse of the Pura 80 Ultra’s chip. The device doesn’t run on the rumored Kirin 9030, but 9020.

The company has used a new chip packaging technology for the Pura 80 Ultra’s Kirin 9020. Hence, it will likely deliver far better performance than its predecessors.
