Huawei Pura 80 Ultra may use LOFIC-based main camera, 1/1.3-inch periscope

Huawei Pura 80 Ultra has once again gathered attention in the leaks for its camera, and it looks like the company could use LOFIC technology for the device. A new leak says that the OEM is mass producing parts of the next-gen flagship models.
DigitalChatStation says that the Huawei Pura 80 Ultra will likely use a self-made LOFIC-powered main camera and the largest periscope sensor in the consumer market.
The tipster hints that the new 50MP 1/1.3-inch periscope camera sensor is coming with the Pura 80 series. It is probably the company’s first self-made camera lens for top-end model. The sensor will have a large aperture and RYYB capabilities.
On the other hand, Pura 80 Ultra will likely use a 50MP 1-inch super main camera featuring LOFIC technology. The company is allegedly working on two big sensors. Both of them could show up with the upcoming high-end Pura 80 variant.
Another tipster in the comment section says that the Pura 80 Pro+ will also use the company’s self-developed main camera sensor. Though Huawei has not confirmed these details yet. Hence, let’s wait for an official clue on this matter.

LOFIC stands for Lateral OverFlow Integration Capacitor. It is mainly used for CMOS sensors to enhance the high dynamic range of an image. As a result, the device can capture pictures in both brighter and darker areas without affecting the quality.
The technology enables excess charge from intense light to overflow within an extra capacitor. This process avoids pixel saturation and increases the dynamic range.
Huawei Pura 80 series is expected to bring extraordinary camera techs on board. But the case will probably be more innovative with the Ultra variant.
Perhaps, the new lens technologies will make Pura 80 the most powerful camera smartphone in the market, defeating its foreign rivals once again!
