Huawei Pura 80 smartphones may stick to single punch-hole design

Huawei does not seem to have plans to upgrade the front face of its Pura 80 series and may continue to use the single punch-hole design. A new input reveals what else the upcoming flagship smartphone lineup will bring to the surface.

DigitalChatStation reveals that Huawei will use a centered single punch-hole design for the Pura 80 smartphones. It won’t feature the Mate 70’s 3D face recognition.

This morning, Huawei shared a video teaser revealing the periscope lens capabilities of the Pura 80 series. The clip further highlighted a Pura 80 smartphone with a single punch-hole layout on the front face at the center.

Although the tipster created a fuzz by saying the Pura 80 “Pro” series has a centered single-hole screen. It can be a mistake as the company exclusively uses a 3D face recognition system for the Mate smartphones instead of any other lineup.

Huawei introduced the 3D face recognition with the Mate 60 Pro in 2023. It used to analyze the geometric structure of a face using depth data, which provides more accuracy than the ordinary 2D methods.

It captures 3D features like the shape of the nose, eye sockets, jawline, and more to offer a safe and secure experience. Currently, it’s available in Mate 60 and 70 phones.

Inputs also add that Huawei Pura 80 models will bring a 24mm variable aperture for the main camera. The periscope sensor could be 89mm with 3.7x optical zoom.
