Huawei Pura 80 series may stick to same ‘triangular’ camera design

Huawei took the smartphone innovation to a new level with the Pura phones last year. Now a piece of information suggests that the Huawei Pura 80 series may continue the same camera design as its predecessors. Though we may see minor changes.

Weibo tipster @SmartPikachu implies that the Huawei Pura 80 series will likely stick to the same “triangular” camera design. In terms of appearance, the company may not adopt major camera upgrades this time. Other details are unclear.

The tipster adds that the upcoming lineup may have a rounded yet irregular camera module shape. It could be placed in the same upper left corner as the Pura 70.

P series is familiar for its beautiful design and top-notch imaging capabilities. While most P-tagged smartphones show a rail-like or rectangular rear camera bump, the company adopted an entirely new design with the Huawei Pura 70 flagship.

Huawei Pura 70 handsets have a triangular camera module housing three lenses. Meanwhile, the Ultra variant shows an XMAGE badge on one of the three sides.

The overall design appears like a cute panda face with all three lenses at the corners. It not only gives a distinct look to the device but also makes it impressive.

Perhaps we may continue to see this outlook with the Pura 80 series. But it’s too early to jump to conclusions. Let’s wait till the official unveiling for accurate details.

Apart from the camera design, the leak reveals that Huawei will likely adopt an upgraded periscope lens for the entire Pura 80 lineup. It may further use a new display solution. There could be a 6.6-inch flat screen and a 6.8-inch curved screen.

Regarding periscope, the company is rumored to use the largest 1/1.3-inch 50MP periscope camera sensor for the Ultra model. Some other OmniVision camera sensors are also in the testing.
