Huawei Pura 80 series gets a possible launch date

Looks like Huawei has finalized the Pura 80 series launch date. The next-gen flagship lineup has been swirling in release rumors for a long while. Although a new input suggests that the company could unveil the top-end models next month.
Huawei Pura 80 series launch date is allegedly scheduled for May 22. A few tipsters and certain sources related to the supply chain reveal that the top-end lineup could launch next month with a self-developed camera setup and HarmonyOS 5.
The supply chain-based info further states that the Huawei Pura 80 series will debut with four models: standard, Pro, Pro+, and Ultra. The high-end Ultra variant could use the company’s self-made 1-inch CMOS main camera sensor.
Pura 80 Ultra could also use a dual-layer OLED screen with a maximum brightness of 3500 nits and a 15% reduction in power consumption to offer a rich and effective viewing experience. Other versions may use a flat OLED screen.
Inputs add a new SC5AOCS camera sensor on the specs list. This sensor may come with RYYB filter + physical variable aperture and could show up in Pura 80 Pro/Pro+ variants. It is said to increase the amount of light intake by 40%.
Speaking of the performance, the new handsets could adopt an optimized Kirin 9020 5G chip (probably the one found in Pura X). The company may use a 3D chip packaging technology, reducing the power consumption by 15%.

The new leak contradicts previous rumors saying that Huawei may unveil the Pura 80 in June this year. The company has been preparing to ramp up production for many components, hinting that it may further delay the flagship’s launch.
Pura 80 still has a late launch date compared to its predecessors. Pura 70 lineup released in April with a new design, a powerful chipset, and robust camera features.
Although the Pura 80 launch is still a subject of mystery. Whether the new flagship lineup will release on May 22 or slip to a June launch will be worth looking at.
