Huawei AI challenge Nvidia

Nvidia has once again affirmed Huawei as a great challenge in the AI field. The company has already made this statement several times. But in a recent conference, the firm’s CEO mentioned again how he sees the Chinese OEM in the AI sector.

Jensen Huang – the CEO of Nvidia attended a press conference in the U.S. on Wednesday (April 30). During the talk, he responded to questions like Nvidia’s dominance in the Chinese market, new U.S. rules, and competition with Huawei.

The Nvidia executive mentioned that Huawei poses a serious challenge in the AI market. He added that the Chinese tech giant is one of the strongest rivals of Nvidia in the race to manufacture the best AI semiconductors.

Apart from Huawei, Jensen also highlighted Intel and some other startups that are becoming a hurdle in Nvidia’s growth in the Chinese AI market. Huang says:

“Huawei, Intel, and a growing number of semiconductor startups pose a serious challenge to Nvidia’s dominance in the AI accelerator market, and Huawei is one of Nvidia’s very strong competitors in the race to produce the best AI chips.”

Nvidia CEO reveals that even though China is slightly behind when it comes to the technological race, the gap isn’t big. According to Jensen, the country is doing well in AI, thanks to Huawei, which continues to improve its chips day by day.

Huawei continues to progress

It’s not the first time that Nvidia has acknowledged Huawei’s progress in the AI segment. The company has affirmed many times that despite the US sanctions and strict chip controls, the Chinese tech giant is coming up with new ways for its growth.

The U.S. chipmaker has further shared its concern in recent times about how the new chip restrictions are not only making Huawei more innovative but also giving up the entire Chinese AI market to the Ascend chipset producer.
