Huawei Pocket 2 may soon get a Premium variant with new Kirin chipset

Huawei is seemingly preparing a Premium variant for the flip-flop Pocket 2 smartphone. After the Mate 70 Pro, the Chinese phone maker is planning to bring a new edition of the vertical smart foldable, probably with some significant upgrades.

According to FixedFocus, Huawei Pocket 2 will soon get a Premium variant with a price reduction. The new version could be cheaper compared to the standard model.

In terms of pricing, the device could cost around 6000 yuan. Note that it’s just an estimated cost. Huawei will likely apply a Chinese subsidy to the new Pocket 2 folding smartphone, further reducing its price.

The tipster adds that the Pocket 2 Premium Edition will equip a new Kirin chipset. Following the leak, many netizens suggested that the Pocket 2 Premium Edition could be the same processor used in the Mate 70 Pro Premium smartphone.

Huawei launched the Mate 70 Pro Premium Edition in February 2025. It came on the ground with a simple matte-finish design on the back and a new Kirin 9020A.

Kirin 9020A has 100MHz less large and medium core frequency compared to Kirin 9020 5G. But it still provides 35% improved performance over the Mate 60 Pro.

CPU Configuration:

• Kirin 9020: 1 large core @ 2.50GHz + 3 medium cores @ 2.15GHz + 4 small cores @ 1.60GHz
• Kirin 9020A: 1 large core @ 2.40GHz + 3 medium cores @ 2.00GHz + 4 small cores @ 1.60GHz

Huawei hasn’t announced any such details about the Pocket 2 smartphone yet. However, the company has released a Premium Edition for the Mate 70 Pro this year. Hence, it may continue this “new variant” trend for the vertical foldable as well.

Apart from the chipset and color schemes, the rest of the parameters would be the same as the original model. It will likely feature a giant 6.94-inch screen with a circular cover screen and a rounded camera bump housing four lenses.
