Huawei is rolling out a new upgrade to the Huawei Pay app with a feature to send and receive gift cards before the Chinese Spring Festival 2025.

This new feature is part of version 1.0.21.361 (100021361) under the testing phase and the company has planned to upgrade all users once the test is completed.

After the upgrade, the app will show users an option to send and receive red envelopes from the home screen. It has three types of envelopes: ordinary, luck, and good luck.

Red envelopes are a gift of money given during holidays such as Chinese New Year. These are the gesture of hospitality. The red color of the envelope symbolizes good luck and wards off evil spirits. The red packet is also called “money warding off old age” for the Chinese New Year.
