Amid US sanctions, Huawei is facing a lot of difficulties in developing new products equipped with the latest technology. Meanwhile, the Research and Development section continues to innovate new technology for smart devices.

Now, Huawei has published a patent in the field of 3D camera technology entitled “Appearance analysis method and electronic device”, which was applied in July 2021 to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

According to the information, this patent document contains 43-pages and was initially approved by WIPO in late December. However, it was finally released on January 27, 2022. This patent is a so-called utility patent that means Huawei can implement the patented technology in different ways.

The patent document reveals that Huawei patents camera technology in which a triple-camera smartphone is able to create a 3D model of your face for facial and skin analysis. Huawei’s aim of this patent is to provide advice-based analysis of your face and skin structure.

To make it possible, the first and second cameras are needed to place perpendicular to each other. The third camera is placed in between, with the distance between the first and second camera being equal.

Further, the information suggests that Huawei may also decide to make it an optional accessory, as a kind of intelligent mirror. In that case, the smart mirror can be used independently and work together with your phone. Eventually, it is also possible that it is a removable camera – which can be used both separately and integrated.

Last December, Huawei debuted the first flip-style foldable smartphone – Huawei P50 Pocket that comes with a round cover display, which can also be used as a smart mirror. Also, it has a Sunscreen Detection mode that can detect whether enough sunscreen has been applied to your face or it is evenly distributed. In addition to this, the makeup has been properly removed or not.
