On February 1, Huawei has published a new patent entitled “blind guidance technology and wearable device” with announcement number CN114002684A. According to the China Intellectual Property database, this patent was applied on July 28, 2020, in China.

The aim of this patent Huawei blind guidance technology is to provide guidance to blind people by detecting the obstacles. After wearing the device they don’t need to hold hands and improve the convenience of users.

According to the patent document, this patent provides a blind guidance method, device, and wearable device, including determining the wearable device according to the ultrasonic signal emitted by the wearable device and the received reflected signal.

The relative positional relationship with the obstacle and the first orientation information of the wearable device relative to the wearer is detected according to the orientation sensor of the wearable device. According to the relative positional relationship and the first orientation information, the wearer navigates.

Even if the posture of the wearable device changes, the position information of the obstacle relative to the wearer can still be determined according to the first position information of the wearable device and the wearer.

So that more accurate position information of the obstacle can be obtained, and it is possible to obtain more accurate position information of the obstacle.  Wearing the device does not require holding hands.
