Huawei P50 Pocket and P50 Pro goes on sale in global market

This January, Huawei P50 Pro and P50 Pocket marked their presence in the global market. Now, the official sales of newly debuted Huawei P50 Pro and P50 Pocket have started in major markets including Europe, South America, Asia Pacific, Middle East, and Africa.

Both the premium smartphones – Huawei P50 Pro and P50 Pocket equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 4G processor and come pre-installed with EMUI 12 operating system in the global market.

Pricing:

  • Huawei P50 Pro is priced at 1199 Euro
  • Huawei P50 Pocket is priced at 1299 Euro
  • Huawei P50 Pocket Premium Edition is priced at 1599 Euro

Huawei P50 Pro specs:

Huawei P50 Pro smartphone launched with a 6.6 inch OLED display with 2700 x 1228p resolutions, 120 Hz refresh rate, 300Hz touch sampling rate. It expands 158.8mm x 72.8mm x 8.5mm and weighs around 195g approx. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 4G processor and comes pre-installed with EMUI 12.

The storage configuration includes 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage and packs with a 4360mAh battery that supports 66W super-fast charging and 50W wireless charging. On the rear side, it has a quad-camera system consisting of a 50MP with LED flash. While the front side has a 13MP selfie camera with autofocus mode.

The connectivity options include 4G network, WLAN, Bluetooth 5.2, Support BLE, SBC, AAC, LDAC. Further, it has a USB Type-C ear jack, and USB Type-C charging port, and a USB 3.1 GEN1 port.

Huawei P50 Pocket smartphone features the main screen with a 6.9-inch mains display that folds inwards and a 1.04-inch cover screen is placed on the rear to show you a notification. The main screen comes with 2790 x 1188pixel resolution, 120 Hz refresh rate,1440 Hz high-frequency PWM dimming, 300 Hz touch sampling rate, and 442 PPI. While the cover screen has 340 x 340p resolution, 60 Hz refresh rate, 120 Hz touch sampling rate, and 328 PPI.

The P50 Pocket is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 4G processor, packs with EMUI 12 operating system, 8GB/12GB of RAM, and 256GB/512GB of internal storage. Speaking about the battery, this phone packs with 4000mAh battery that supports a 40W Super fast charger.

Huawei P50 Pocket features a powerful 40 MP triple camera system on the backside and you’ll see a 10.7-megapixel front camera to give you high-quality selfies. The connectivity options include WLAN, Bluetooth 5.2, and more.

Despite no 5G, Huawei increased foldable phones sale in Chinese market in 2022

Despite having no access to a 5G chipset, Huawei phones are rumbling over China’s foldable device segment and maintained its lead throughout 2022.

According to the data released by China’s CINNO research, Huawei shipped approx 1.44 million units of foldable display devices. The Chinese tech maker completed this task with a sales growth rate of 132% year over year. However, its market share decreased by 2.8 percent, while still covering over 50% of the overall Chinese market.

This sale count is contributed by the strong sales of the P50 Pocket and Mate X2 Collector’s Edition. Since its launch in December 2021, the Huawei P50 Pocket has been the single-season sales champion of China’s foldable phones market for three consecutive quarters in Q1, Q2, and Q3 of 2022. While the Pocket S jumped to the top sales in the fourth quarter.

Samsung comes second with a market share of 22.8%, a year-on-year decrease of 9.7 percentage points, Samsung has the largest decline within a year.

OPPO ranked third with a 7.7% market share, up 4.3 percent year over year. Coming to the last three Xiaomi, Vivo, and Honor with a market share of 6.6%, 5.8%, and 5% respectively.

Overall sales of foldable smartphones in China have increased by 144% year over year (YoY) with 2.83 million units shipment throughout the year. This is a massive growth among customers and it continues to rise over quarters.

Today, the Vice President of the Huawei Consumer Business Smartphone Product Line appeared on Weibo with a new device, as it only mentions “a Huawei phone” instead of showing an exact name. It reveals a possibility, of whether the Huawei smartphone VP is using either the Huawei P60 series or the Mate X3 device.

Either of these phones is not confirmed for launch for the moment but Huawei officials use them ahead of the release for various purposes under the testing unit.

Looking at the launch schedule, Huawei could unveil Huawei Mate X3 foldable phone first and the P60 series later. Therefore, it’s possible that the Huawei VP is using a Mate X3 instead of a P60. Yet, there’s no official confirmation on this matter.

Both Huawei Mate X3 and P60 series are under immense wait for consumers. The Mate X3 will get you a new side-folding design, proceeding from the Mate X2 model with a lightweight and better hinge system.
