Huawei is rolling out a new software update for its Huawei P10 Lite phone, the Chinese variant of Huawei P10 Lite. This firmware brings newly added applications and optimizes the smart search function alongside improving the overall system security.

The P10 Lite was launched in 2017, the smartphone comes equipped with a 5.2-inch display, Kirin 658, 3000mAh battery, and more. From the software side this phone packs with EMUI 5.1 based on Android 7. Later, the company upgrades its software version up to EMUI 8.

The new firmware is identified as EMUI 8.0 version 8.0.0.361 from EMUI 8.0.0.359. As usual, it’s a staged rollout and may take time to cover each and every device. It brings optimizations for the smart search function alongside January 2021 security patch.

Things to note, that this rollout is currently limited to Chinese models and may take time to expand among global consumers.

Moreover, there are some newly added applications including Education Center, Link Now, and a few more that are a part of this firmware version and ready to increase the user experience. Furthermore, the update carries security patches released in January 2021.

Things to remember before moving to upgrade

  • Make sure your smartphone is not rooted.
  • Take a backup of your important data, just in case.
  • Maintain enough battery on your device.
  • It’s a staged rollout and may take time to arrive on your device.

Huawei releasing software updates for the old devices, to make them ready for HarmonyOS?

Recently, we have covered a new software update for a 5-year-old Huawei P9 device. The latest P9 rollout got the same new features mentioned above with added tweaks.

Huawei has promised to upgrade its oldest possible devices with the HarmonyOS operating system.  The upgrade roadmap consists of over 100 models, yet it doesn’t include P10 Lite or P9 devices but we’ll have to wait until Huawei confirms these devices under the HarmonyOS rollout plan.
