HarmonyOS 8th batch beta recruitment is now opened for 6 Huawei and Honor devices that were launched years back. With this announcement, the corresponding users will make a way towards the HarmonyOS operating system upgrade.
For your information, the 8th batch of HarmonyOS 2.0 closed beta includes models from both Huawei and Honor campaigns and runs EMUI version 9.1. Following the upgrade, the mobile users will get new features including a control panel, new animations, smooth user interface, service widgets, and other important aspects that bring simplicity to the interactions.
The announcement is something that the smartphone users have been waiting for but the rollout for the global models will increase it further if it happens anytime this year.

There are a total of 2000 slots that has been opened for the beta testing and the recruitment will remain active from September 28, 2021, to October 18, 2021. After this timeline, the company will review the applicants and push the beta build via OTA software updates.

120 million mark:
On September 23, 2021, Huawei announced to complete 120 million installations of HarmonyOS in devices. However, we could see a rapid number of growth and similar ramp target appearing and growing in the coming months.

First HarmonyOS smart car cockpit will launch by the end of this year, check user interface
During the HDC 2021, Huawei has released the latest development made in the HarmonyOS ecosystem. The tech maker has announced 150 million device upgrades and the current speed of partners that continues to increase. Moreover, the company also launched the first developer preview of the HarmonyOS 3, which will help the developer to understand this new HarmonyOS version before it becomes available for developer beta testing.
However, there’s one more interesting announcement that has been made at the event. Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei Consumer Business Group and smart car solutions BU revealed that the first HarmonyOS powered smart car cockpit will launch by the end of this year.
The Huawei business chief also expected that at the end of this year or early next year, the new generation of luxury mid-size SUVs released by SERES will be equipped with a smart cockpit based on HarmonyOS. Huawei hopes that through the HarmonyOS system, the user experience of the smart cockpit will surpass that of other manufacturers around the world.
Furthermore, Huawei has also revealed the user interface for the in-car HarmonyOS system that will launch by the end of this year on a SERES car. The user interface is very immersive and functional.
Wang Jun, president of Huawei Smart Car Solutions BU, confirmed that the HarmonyOS-A smart cockpit operating system is currently the only open cockpit system and will begin to sell by the end of this year.
That’s not it, Huawei also showed us some data regarding the current moves that HarmonyOS has made in the smart car industry after the announcement of HarmonyOS 2.0 at HDC 2020. Based on the HarmonyOS in-car system, Huawei has developed in-depth cooperation with more than 80 hardware and software partners.

HarmonyOS programming language is coming: Huawei
Deng Taihua, vice president of Huawei and president of the computing product line, said in an interview in September this year that Huawei will launch an HarmonyOS programming language Cangjie next year to connect HarmonyOS and Euler in the application development ecosystem.
Huawei previously stated that Euler and Hongmeng have connected the sharing of core technology. In the future, it plans to build a distributed soft bus capability in Euler, so that devices equipped with the Euler operating system can automatically identify and connect to HarmonyOS devices.
Additionally, Huawei’s Managing Director, CEO of Consumer Business, and CEO of Smart Car Solutions BU, Yu Chengdong, announced that the number of HarmonyOS devices exceeds 150 million, making it the fastest-growing terminal operating system in history.
Huawei HarmonyOS 3 developer preview launched, improved performance
During the Huawei Developer Conference 2021, Huawei announced the first HarmonyOS 3 developer preview. The Chinese tech giant announced this new HarmonyOS version as an upgrade over HarmonyOS 2. So, developers in China are eligible to test the HarmonyOS 3 via the HarmonyOS 3 developer beta version and start developing apps for the latest HarmonyOS version.
To be mentioned, the HarmonyOS 3.0 developer beta will be opened in the first quarter of 2022. So, it can be tested on different devices. Still, the launch of general consumers of smartphones and other devices is far away, since it’s still in the development mode.

According to the information, the HarmonyOS 3 developer preview includes performance improvements over HarmonyOS 2.0. these are 50 percent improvements in terms of Device discovery performance, 100 percent improvement in terms of HD projection stability, and 20 percent improvement in terms of enhanced cross-device operation performance.
