Huawei openEuler 22.03 LTS version will use Linux Kernel 5.10

Huawei confirmed that according to the version plan, openEuler 22.03 will be released next year and it’ll be based on Linux kernel 5.10. The Chinese tech maker took this decision after Linux Kernel 5.10 version maintenance has been extended from 2 years to 6 years.

Initially, Linux 5.10 as the latest Long Term Support (LTS) release was only going to be maintained until the end of 2022 but after the growing interest of different companies to help with testing, Linux 5.10 LTS will now be maintained until the end of the year 2026.

According to Huawei, the company ranked 1st in the contribution of the Linux Kernel 5.10 patches, and the total contribution of Linux Kernel 5.6-5.11 code accounts for 5.8%, ranking in the top 3.
