Huawei Nova 8 and Nova 8 Pro launched with new camera design, 120Hz refresh rate, 80-degree ultra curved display, and more

On December 23, 2020, Huawei launched its new Nova series, Nova 8. This lineup consists of Nova 8 and Nova 8 Pro and comes with various new features such as a 120Hz refresh rate as well as the new camera system.

Below we’ll be going to check this lineup and its features in detail.

Huawei Nova 8 Pro:

Huawei Nova 8 Pro comes with a 6.72-inch OLED display with FHD+ resolution, an 80-degree super-curved edge design, a 120Hz refresh rate for an advanced viewing experience, HDR 10 support, and it’s certified by TUV Rheinland for best eye protection. The screen has a pill-type punch hole to house two selfie cameras (32MP + 16MP). Both Nova 8 and 8 Pro has display embedded fingerprint sensor.

It is worth mentioning that, Huawei Nova 8 Pro becomes the first smartphone of the brand which offers a 120Hz high refresh rate. Even the flagships Huawei P40 and Mate 40 only support a 90Hz refresh rate display.

The body of the Nova 8 Pro comes as thin as 7.85mm and weighs only 184g to provide a light and comfortable grip in your hand.

On the rear side, this new smartphone has teh new star-ring camera system, which resembles an oval shape camera bump. This is also the first time when Huawei chooses this type of camera design in its smartphones.

The rear camera system includes a 64MP main camera (f/1.8 aperture, AF) + 8MP ultra wide-angle (f/2.4 aperture, FF) + 2MP macro camera (f/2.4 aperture, FF) + 2MP depth of field (f/2.4 aperture, FF).

Specifically for the Nova 8 series, Huawei released new artistic customized themes with a unique artistic style to create an enhanced lock screen experience for consumers.

Huawei Nova 8 and 8 Pro equips 7nm Kirin 985 chipset with a faster 5G uplink, faster transmission, and more stable connection. The phone also comes Wi-Fi 6+ connection and an increased WiFi transmission speed of up to 2.4Gbps.

The No.8 color option for the Nova 8 Pro comes with dual-layer and dual plating combined with AG anti-glare glass process to create the illusion of stars gathered between the square inches of the back panel.

Huawei Nova 8 series comes with a 66W super-fast charging capability that can recharge your phone within 35 minutes and 60% battery level in 15 mins. While the Nova 8 Pro is equipped with VC liquid cooling system.

Huawei Nova 8 series runs the latest EMUI 11 software system powered by Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) with features including Multi-screen collaboration, better efficiency, faster file transfer, AI subtitles, and more.

With the dual front camera – 32MP ultra-wide-angle and 16MP main camera, users will get the maximum experience while blogging.

The 3Mic stereo radio, 5 meters sound pickup range and reduce the noise floor. The Pro version supports dual-view recording 2.0, which enhances the selfie cameras to take more clear and stable pictures.

Huawei Nova 8:

Compared to the Pro version, Huawei Nova 8 comes with slightly reduced specs, featuring a 6.57-inch OLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling, and a center hole-punch design with FHD+ resolution. Also, it offers a 32MP front-facing camera and its body is 7.65mm thick and 169g in weight. However, the rest of the specs of the Huawei Nova 8 remains the same as the Nova 8 Pro.
