Huawei Nova 14 Ultra runs on Kirin 8020 5G chipset
Huawei has launched the Nova 14 Ultra smartphone and seeded it with an all-new Kirin 8020 5G chipset. After the device went official, many Weibo tipsters checked the phone information page of the Nova 14 series to grab the chip details.
Weibo tipster @FixedFocus noted that the Huawei Nova 14 Ultra runs on the Kirin 8020 chipset. It is a downclocked version of the Mate 70 Pro’s processor.
Kirin 8020 has a 1+3+4 CPU configuration. The large core is clocked at 2.29GHz, the medium cores are clocked at 2.05GHz, and the small cores are clocked at 1.30GHz. The chipset is further paired with Maleoon 920 2cu GPU at 840MHz.
The exact CPU configuration is as follows:
- 1+3+4 CPU architecture
- 1 super core @ 2.285GHz
- 3 medium cores @ 2.05GHz
- 4 small cores @ 1.3GHz
Based on the configuration, the new chip seems to be a downclocked version of the Kirin 9020. Although that may not affect the performance of the device.

According to the official details, the Huawei Nova 14 Ultra can deliver 35% improved performance over its predecessors. On the other hand, it can boost the gaming performance by 23% and operating fluency by 39%.
Further inputs reveal that the company has increased the packaging area of the Kirin 8020 by 30%, which is quite similar to the Kirin 9010. A tipster performed the teardown, showing the design and packaging of the new processor.
The teardown reveals that the chip area in Nova 14 Ultra has increased by 30-40%. Meanwhile, the company has directly integrated the Beidou and Tiantong satellite communication SoCs into the Kirin 8020 chipset.
The chipset shows the HiSilicon logo with the Hi62B0 number. It can have a higher level of integration than Kirin 9010 and deliver efficient performance.
Huawei has not listed the chip details on its official website. But tipsters have suggested that the new Kirin 8020 makes Nova 14 Ultra the most powerful mid-range handset in the family.
