Huawei may upgrade Kirin chip performance for new MatePad Pro 12.2

Huawei is seemingly preparing several tablets including flagship and mid-range ones, to launch in the second half of this year. One of these is the next-gen Huawei MatePad Pro 12.2, which will likely feature a powerful Kirin 5G chip.
Weibo tipster @FixedFocus reveals that Huawei is working on the new-gen MatePad Pro 12.2 flagship tablet, which may look quite similar to its predecessor.
Although a major upgrade in the Huawei MatePad Pro 12.2 2025 can be its Kirin 5G chip. The company may enhance the chipset performance for the top-end tablet, delivering seamless functioning throughout the device.
The MatePad Pro 12.2 2024 tablet runs on a Kirin 9000S SoC. It is an octa-core chipset that debuted with the Mate 60 series in 2023. The CPU configuration includes:
- 1 Taishan Big core @ 2.62GHz
- 3 Taishan Medium cores @ 2.15GHz
- 4 Cortex-A510 cores @1.53GHz
Following the latest leak, a few netizens speculated that the new-gen tablet may use the Kirin 9020 processor. It has been the spotlight for the Mate 70 Pro, MatePad Pro 13.2, and the newly launched Pura X folding phone (with improved design).
Perhaps the company could continue to use the new Kirin 9020 chipset for some upcoming devices. Though an official confirmation awaits on this matter.
