Huawei may soon launch smaller, cheaper Pocket foldable phone

In 2024, Huawei launched two vertical foldable phones, Pocket 2 and Nova Flip, to offer premium folding device features cheaper than the Mate X models. Now, an input suggests the company is working on a budget-friendly clamshell product.

According to FixedFocus, Huawei may soon launch a new vertical foldable phone, cheaper than the Pocket 2. The device will probably be identical to the previous-gen Pocket folding handset. Although it can be available at a lower price.

The tipster said the upcoming foldable could have a new variant this time, just like the Pocket 2 Art version. From the details, it seems to be the next-gen Pocket folding phone.

However, another Weibo blogger in the comment section claimed that it’s the Huawei Nova Flip 2 foldable. He implied that the device is in the making and will debut soon.

The identity of the alleged folding device remains a mystery. Since Huawei has launched Pura X this year, it is unlikely to bring a “Pocket” model. Thus, there are more chances to see a Nova Flip 2 folding phone by the end of 2025.

Pocket models are considered flagship vertical foldable handsets. But last year, the company unveiled a cost-effective folding device called Nova Flip, focusing on the mid-range consumer market. The device came with many interesting and premium-level features at an affordable rate.

Nova Flip has a bigger external screen compared to the Pocket phones. It can support various funny themes and shortcuts for the cover display. One can perform several operations on the handset without unfolding it.

As of now, Huawei is reportedly making a new, smaller, and cheaper flip-flop model with probably better upgrades and tech-pack features. It would be worth seeing if the device belongs to the Pocket or Nova family in the time ahead.

Looks like Huawei has many surprises in the pipeline for foldable lovers. The company has unveiled two folding devices, Pura X and MateBook Fold, with new form factors this year. But the list does not end here and may include more goodies-like products.
