Huawei MatePad Mini has a flagship 5G chip, but it’s not 9020!

After the Mate XTs, the MatePad Mini is the centerpiece of attraction for Huawei fans due to its leaked specs and features, but this device may hurt you in terms of a ‘flagship chip’. Perhaps the most-awaited tablet may not use the latest Kirin SoC.

Earlier, DigitalChatStation mentioned that the Huawei MatePad Mini will use the Kirin 9020 5G flagship chip. Although the same tipster now hints at a major change.

The new information indicates that the mini tablet will likely be equipped with the Kirin 9010 5G processor. The chipset debuted with Pura 70 Ultra and has appeared in various devices, including the Mate XT, Nova 12 Ultra Star Edition, and others.

However, Huawei has seemingly not used this processor for tablets yet. In that case, the MatePad Mini will be the first tablet to feature the Kirin 9010 5G chip.

Kirin 9010 is an octa-core 7nm 5G chipset coupled with Maleoon 910 MP4 GPU. It comes with two large cores clocked at 2.3GHz, six medium cores at 2.18GHz, and four 1.55GHz small cores. Compared to the 9000s, it is far more efficient.

• Kirin 9000s: 1 x 2.62GHz + 3 x 2.15GHz + 4 x 1.53GHz
• Kirin 9010: 2 x 2.3GHz + 6 x 2.18GHz + 4 x 1.55GHz

Even though the tablet will deliver significant performance over many previous models, it will remain slightly inferior to the MatePad Pro 13.2 2025. This may further disappoint those who were expecting the latest 5G SoC with the tablet.

Note that the chipset info comes from a third-party software application. Hence, the accuracy of this news is still questionable. We have to wait for the official unveiling of the device.

Apart from the chipset details, the rest of the leaked specs are probably the same. The device has an 8.8-inch OLED screen with a 16:10 screen ratio and 2560 x 1600 pixels resolution. It will likely have more than two variants this time.
