Huawei has launched the MateBook 14 2024 Linux Edition, which costs less than the Windows version. After the D 16 notebook, the company has now unveiled another Linux-based device in its shelf, and may soon add more models to it.

Earlier, a tipster mentioned that Huawei would upgrade its 2024 notebooks to Linux Edition in the coming months. The leak didn’t seem accurate at that time. Though Huawei cleared the mist by launched a new Linux laptop – MateBook D 16 Linux.

Now, the company has unveiled another device, Huawei MateBook 14 2024 Linux Edition, which is now live on sale. The notebook is 300 yuan cheaper than the Windows version and is available in three versions. You can check the price below.

  • MateBook 14 Linux (Intel Core Ultra 5, 16GB + 1TB) – 5999 yuan
  • MateBook 14 Linux (Intel Core Ultra 5, 32GB + 1TB) – 6699 yuan
  • MateBook 14 Linux (Intel Core Ultra 7, 32GB + 1TB) – 7999 yuan

Specifications

The overall specs of the MateBook 14 Linux are the same as the Windows Edition. But there are certain changes. For instance, the packaging box reads ‘Third-party Linux version”. Besides, the Windows logo key has now become the Start key. You won’t find the Intel logo on the lower right side of the keyboard.

MateBook 14 Linux features a 14.2-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 2880 x 1920 pixels, a 120Hz refresh rate, 1.07 billion colors, and 91% screen to body ratio.

It is available in two colors: Space Gray and Field Green. It is equipped with a 70Wh battery that lasts up to 90 hours. Meanwhile, the new power saving mode offers 90 minutes of additional charge to the device, making it more durable.

Thanks to Pangu big model, the device supports various AI capabilities like AI summary, AI subtitles, AI minutes, AI Smart Eye detection, and many more features.

A Huawei Store employee said that the staff can reinstall Windows 11 and related Office software or apps for free, as per consumers’ preference. Thus, you can still enjoy Windows services and features on the Linux notebook.
