Huawei Mate 80 series to pack a smart triple-layer cooling technology

Huawei is seemingly working on a smart “triple-layer” cooling technology for the upcoming Mate 80 series. The smartphone lineup can debut in the second half of this year, and this time, it will unlock more prominent upgrades over its predecessor.
Weibo tipster @SmartPikachu revealed that Huawei is developing a unique cooling technology for the Mate 80 series smartphones. The company has started the trial production of this tech and will likely implement it into the next-gen flagship.
Speaking of the technology, the new cooling upgrade might bring triple-layer protection to Mate 80 models. It is expected to work on three major aspects:
- Internal Durability
- Active Heat Dissipation
- Smart Temperature Control
According to the latest details, the Mate 80 series will use ultra-thin built-in cooling fans. These fans would probably use aluminum, ensuring low density, corrosion resistance, durability, and good thermal conductivity.

It will eventually boost durability by preventing overheating, which often leads to performance issues, battery degradation, and other damages. On the other hand, the new technology may provide active heat dissipation.
Here, “active” refers to reducing the heat attack dimensionally. It uses powered components to cool down the device, mainly by boosting heat transfer and removal.
Unlike the passive cooling that relies on natural processes, active methods are more effective. Further, Mate 80 cooling tech will likely support smart temperature control.
It is the ability to monitor the temperature of the device and adjust it accordingly. The tech uses a smart thermostat to transmit the temperature data to the device.
For reference, the Mate 70 series equips a 6870 mm sq. large-area full-screen flexible liquid-cooled VC (vapor chamber). It greatly improves the heat dissipation performance as well as keeps the device energetic at all times.
If the current leak is accurate, we can expect all these features to debut with the Mate 80 series. Perhaps, the company will confirm these details around the launch timeframe.
Mate handsets are performance-focused devices. Hence, a high-tech cooling upgrade will likely launch with the next-gen lineup. Apart from the cooling technology, a new Kirin 9 chip is also in rumors for the Mate 80 handsets.
