Huawei Mate 80 rumored to sport built-in cooling fan and IP68 rating

Huawei Mate 80 series could adopt a cooling fan technology and an IP68 rating. The company is exploring surprising technologies for its flagship phones this year. And the next-gen Mate models won’t be an exception in this direction.

Earlier, DigitalChatStation implied that Huawei is preparing a dynamic smartphone with “cooling fan” technology. As per the new leak, it seems the company may use this innovative tech in the Mate 80 series, coming later this year.

The same tipster now hints that Huawei Mate 80 smartphones could equip an active cooling fan and achieve an IP68 rating, similar to previous-gen models.

Mate 70 devices have an IP68/IP69 rating. The number ‘6’ refers to total dust protection, and the ‘8’ or ‘9’ reveals the device’s survival in prolonged submersion in water. It is the highest standard for the level of protection against dust and water.

  • IP68: 6 meter water resistance
  • IP69: high temperature and high-pressure water spray resistance

Cooling Fan

Coming to cooling fans, Huawei is expected to use a different cooling tech for its future flagship phones. This technology uses an active fan associated with other cooling equipment, like liquid cooling systems or vapor chambers.

These components together manage the heat of the device effectively and prevent it from overheating. Also, the tech dimensionally reduces the heat attack in real-time, allowing the device’s chip to operate for even longer times.

ZTE Nubia is the first to use a cooling fan in smartphones. The ultimate tech ensures the device delivers seamless, stronger performance and lessens overheating.

Huawei Mate 70 series uses a 6870 mm.sq large-area full-screen flexible liquid-cooled VC to improve heat dissipation performance and keep the phones energetic at all times. Now the company may adopt even better tech to boost the performance of the Mate 80 and its Kirin 5G chipset.
