Huawei Mate 80 may use side-mounted ultrasonic fingerprint sensor

Huawei will likely upgrade its fingerprint sensor technology for the Mate 80 series. The company can continue to stick with the side-mounted pattern, but it may use an advanced ultrasonic mechanism for the upcoming Mate flagship smartphones.
SmartPikachu noted that Huawei is revamping its side-mounted fingerprint sensor technology for the Mate 80 handsets. The company is advancing the respective segment with ultrasonic waves to enhance the protection of fingerprint data.
The tipster adds that Huawei could initiate the mass production of the side-mounted ultrasonic fingerprint sensor in the second half of this year. Perhaps, consumers will witness the next-gen Mate models with an advanced unlocking method.
