Huawei Mate 70 series uses 100% China-made chips: Chairman
Huawei Chairman recently stated that the Mate 70 series equips 100% China-made chips. It doesn’t use any foreign-based SoCs to boost the performance level. The company has achieved a new self-reliant milestone in its business journey.
Yu Chengdong – the Chairman of Huawei Consumer Business has attended an event at the Baoan Middle School. He gave a lecture on technology and innovation.
During his lecture, the Chairman showed his Huawei Mate 70 phone to all of the students and proudly said that the device is equipped with 100% China-made chips.
Mate 70 smartphones (except the standard model) feature the all-new Kirin 9020. This processor ensures 40% improved performance and 20% more power efficiency over the previous generation processor. You can check the test results HERE.
The executive said:
“In just 5 years, Huawei has achieved 100% domestic production of chips for its Mate 70 series flagship phones. The true autonomy and control of the semiconductor industry have already happened.” (via a Weibo tipster)
Yu mentioned that the Huawei Mate 70 series packs several processors on its board. Gladly, all these chips are produced domestically, without the help of foreign elements.
U.S. sanctions hit Huawei in 2019 resulting in a major pause of Kirin chipset development. After years of struggle, the company rekindled the power of its self-developed Kirin with the Mate 60 series last year and maintained its flame to date.
Kirin 9020 gained 1.25 million points on AnTuTy which is 30% more than its predecessor. The chip uses a new self-developed and enhanced small core and upgraded large as well as medium cores. It is larger and thicker than the Kirin 9000s and consists of the industry’s first 5G-A satellite communication modules.
Not only the main CPU, but the company has also upgraded the GPU with the Mate 70 handsets -Maleoon 920. It is likely to offer improved and more powerful gaming performance over the previous Kirin processors.
Together, all these Chinese chipsets suggest that Huawei is pacing on the self-reliant path, eliminating its dependency on the US for many of its products. It seems the day isn’t far when Huawei will completely stop depending on the US.
