Huawei Mate 70 HarmonyOS NEXT beta update brings new app lock feature

Huawei Mate 70 series is receiving a new HarmonyOS NEXT beta update that brings a new app lock feature. The firmware contains various new additions for the devices in terms of security, camera, file management, calendar, and other segments.

The company is rolling out the HarmonyOS NEXT 5.0.0.123 beta update for the Mate 70 series. The new firmware is approaching all eligible device owners in batches.

Speaking of the changes, the Huawei Mate 70 series is getting a new app lock tool with the latest beta update. It lets you lock important apps right from the home screen.

Once the feature is enabled, it will ask you for the password to open the app. You can use face, fingerprint, or any other unlocking method as per your preference.

The device now also supports transferring media files to a PC via USB. Users will find a new schedule feature in the Calendar app that supports location details. One can further adjust the order of applications using edit mode in the file manager.

Huawei introduced a new harassment-blocking feature that lets you restrict those messages that contain abusive words. Just mention the keywords in the feature and it will auto-block such types of messages and senders.

The camera now gets a new audio zoom switch that increases or decreases the volume of the recorded sound from the video clip. You can check the changelog below.

System

• Added the app lock feature. Long press the app on the home screen to lock it. When opening the app, you need to verify your identity by face, fingerprint, etc.
• Supports transferring files and pictures via USB to PC.

Calendar

• New schedules support adding location information via location or map.

File Management

• Adding Edit Mode. Enter the editing page from the four-dot icon in the upper right corner to adjust the order of the application list (press and hold the three-line icons in front of the app icon and drag up and down to adjust).
• Added a new setting feature that allows users to set the phone network transmission prompt mode, filter small pictures, etc. It also enables you to provide feedback on issues and suggestions.

Security

• Harassment and fraud blocking supports SMS keyword lists, which can identify harassment and fraud SMS more quickly by identifying keywords in SMS (Settings > Privacy and security > Harassment and fraud blocking > Four-dot icon in the upper right corner > Blocking settings > Keyword Blacklist)

Camera

• Added an audio zoom switch. When you turn on the switch while recording, the recorded sound can be increased or decreased according to the zoom size.

Gallery

• Optimize the interface display and stability of the gallery.

Display

• Optimizes the display effects of some interfaces.
