Huawei Mate 60 Pro liquid cooling case teardown shows chip and other components

In the past test, we’ve seen that the liquid cooling case of the Huawei Mate 60 Pro is quite effective and a teardown reveals some interesting aspects of this important accessory.

Here are a few things you should know about the cooling case design, which includes a big high-precision micro-pump system. This takes the cooling throughout the body of the case. It could start and stop the cooling system smartly on its own based on the intelligence features.

Peeling off the protective film on the rear reveals a huge liquid cooling system made of densely packed winding curves filled with phase change materials. The micro pump system is clearly visible at the bottom and there are two more pumps placed right next to the PCB.

The PCB is quite surprising because it seems like a small smartphone inside the case consisting of an unknown chip. The phone has its own wireless charging coil, which takes power from the phone via a wireless reverse charging feature.

When the temperature of the phone is not high or the battery power is lower than 20%, the reverse charging feature will automatically disable. Liquid cooling greatly reduces the temperature of the phone, which can actually increase battery life.
