Huawei Mate 40 series will launch on October 22 but it’s time for an early unveiling because the “Pro” model of this lineup has now leaked and revealed almost every one of its specs and full design.

Display:

According to the information coming from Winfuture.de, Huawei Mate 40 Pro comes with a 6.67-inch OLED display with 2772 x 1344 pixel resolution, pill-type hole-punch design, and 456 PPI. The display comes with the same waterfall curvatures as the last year’s Mate 30 Pro and will support the 90Hz refresh rate.

Design:

Huawei Mate 40 Pro brought back the physical volume adjustment keys, which was removed in the Mate 30 Pro and can now be found on the right of the phone above the red power button.

Talking about the rear side, it has curved edges on the rear side. In Europe, you’ll only able to purchase this smartphone Black and Silver color option, while other options will make their way for the Chinese consumers.

Compared to the Mate 30 Pro, the company has now removed the Halo ring outside the camera circle and placed a Leica camera branding in the middle of the camera system.

The design parameter of this phone includes 75mm width, 162.9mm height, and 9.1 thickness, and 212 grams in weight. From the connectivity corner, it has Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, and Wi-Fi 6+.

Memory:

It’s powered by the latest Kirin 9000 chipset, it’s Huawei’s last flagship Kirin processor that’s manufactured with TSMC’s 5nm process. Inside the chipset, there are four ARM Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2.04 GHz. Three high-end cores of ARM Cortex-A77 at 2.54GHz and a Cortex-A77 core at 3.13GHz. This processor uses Mali-G78 GPU and it’s not revealed in the specs but it’s likely to feature the self-made Da-Vinci NPU unit for AI performance. Also, the chipset will boast 5G connectivity.

Huawei Mate 40 Pro will be only available in one version with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of flash 3.1 internal storage. On the other hand, in China, users will get up to 12GB of RAM, while other variants including Pro+ and RS Porsche design will only come with 12GB RAM.

Camera:

Huawei mate 40 Pro is equipped with a triple camera system powered by Leica. However, there’s also a fourth sensor placed on the top right corner, which is likely to provide a combination of laser autofocus and depth. There’s also an LED flash placed between the top camera row.

In terms of camera specs, the Huawei Mate 40 Pro equips a 50MP main camera with f/1.9 aperture + OIS, a 20MP ultra-wide-angle camera with f/1.8 aperture, and a 12MP Periscope zoom telephoto camera with f/3.4 aperture. It’s expected that the camera system supports up to 8K video recording and 5X optical zoom.

On the front side, there are two cameras placed in the pill-type hole punch, the first one is a 13MP f/2.4 aperture selfie camera and the other one is a 3D depth sensor for portraits. The camera system also includes a gesture sensor for air gestures.

Battery:

We have been debating on this matter for a long time, and it’s time that Huawei has heard its consumers because Huawei Mate 40 Pro comes with a 4400mAh battery capacity that can recharge with a 65W SuperCharge, upgrading from 40W charging in previous smartphones.

Other than wired charging, the phone also supports wireless charging and wireless reverse charging.

Software:

Huawei Mate 40 Pro will pre-equip EMUI 11 user interface, supported by Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) and AppGallery.
