Huawei, like all goods and services, should be subject to an objective test: Bill Gates

Microsoft Founder, Bill Gates says that Huawei should be tested on the same benchmark as other tech companies in the US to determine whether it poses any security threat, Nikkei Asia.

“Huawei, like all goods and services, should be subject to an objective test,” Gates said at The New York Times DealBook Conference. “The rule that everything that comes from China is bad … that is one crazy approach to trying to take advantage of innovation.”

In May, the US Commerce Department added Huawei in the Entity List, a move to prohibit Huawei’s business with US firms.

Microsoft has been working with Huawei to provide OS support for its laptops but after the Entity-List both companies are forced to end the business link.

According to a recent report, the US Commerce Department is working on approving licensing for the companies that want to sell to Huawei but we’re are waiting for an official announcement.
