Huawei launches Huawei Pay in Singapore

Published

on

On April 3, Huawei announced the availability of Huawei Pay in Singapore, just one day ahead of the sale of Huawei P40 Series.

The Huawei Pay launch is in collaboration exclusively with UnionPay by Huawei Mobile Services (HMS), where Huawei Pay is a mobile payment tool that provides contactless, cashless payment service for Huawei and Honor device users.

The Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Singapore (ICBC Singapore) is the first bank to support this service in Singapore. Between 1 April and 30 September 2020, users in Singapore can enjoy benefits such as Huawei Points rewards and shopping cashback by registering their ICBC UnionPay credit cards and making payments via Huawei Pay.

Huawei Pay was first introduced in the Chinese market in August 2016. It is one of the key services under the Huawei Wallet app. With Huawei Pay, users can use their smart devices into e-wallet to make secure, easy and convenient in-store payments.

Users can enable Huawei Pay by adding their bank cards to the Huawei Wallet app. The Huawei Wallet app comes preloaded in the newly launched Huawei P40 series, while for the older Huawei and Honor smartphone models, the app can be downloaded from Huawei AppGallery.

Huawei Pay supports Near Field Communication (NFC) payment in retail stores. Users can complete their transactions by simply tapping their HUAWEI or HONOR devices near to the Point-of-Sale (POS) terminal instead of their credit cards.

To ensure payment security, Huawei Pay uses biometric authentication methods such as facial and fingerprint recognition to authenticate customers for retail purchases.
