Today, Huawei held the HarmonyOS ecosystem development event and has launched the most-anticipated HarmonyOS NEXT Galaxy version. The tech giant further opened the developer preview program of this software for its developers.

During the conference, Huawei elaborated on its dedication and hard work for the HarmonyOS NEXT Galaxy version. The CEO of Huawei Consumer Business Group – Yu Chengdong said that it took around 10 years to build an independent operating system. And the results are fruitful.

In the latest edition, HarmonyOS software system has entered the world of native app development which is a strong move played by the company. Let us take a look at the significant aspects that the new software product covers.

As per the details, the HarmonyOS NEXT Galaxy version will aim to deliver six primary experiences to users: native applications, native refinements, native security, native smoothness, native intelligence, and native interconnectivity.

Notably this time, Huawei has completely changed its operating system base. It has replaced the traditional Linux Kernel and AOSP Android open-source project with its self-developed Harmony Kernal and Harmony system apps.

In simple words, the operating system has core technology with full-stack capabilities, a firm base, and a powerful ecosystem. As of now, the base of the HarmonyOS NEXT operating system includes original components.

Operating System – Base

  • Pangu AI Model
  • MindSpore AI Framework
  • Integrated development with DevEco Studio/ DevEco Testing
  • HarmonyOS Design
  • ArkUI/ArkUI-X programming framework
  • Ark Compiler/Bisheng Compiler/Ark Runtime
  • ArkTS/Cangjie programming language
  • EROFS/HMDFS distributed file system
  • Harmony kernel

Thus, the company has put its steps beyond the traditional cores and brought more suitable software components. Besides, these additions help in expanding the software ecosystem to multiple devices and ecological products.

Yu Chengdong says that long ago, software development used to depend on products led by the U.S. authorities such as Linux Kernal and programming languages. However, new challenges enabled the company to become independent and develop its own OS.

“HarmonyOS NEXT is a real operating system and not an Android skin!”

This is just the beginning and there is a lot to explore on this matter. The President of Huawei – Zhu YongGang said that the HarmonyOS ecosystem will soon enter the second stage and cooperate with new developers to bring the HarmonyOS benefits to more industries.
