Today, Huawei released the new L2HC 3.0 standard along with its industry partners in China. This has become the world’s fastest lossless sound quality transmission among audio codec formats.

L2HC is a Huawei-proprietary HD audio codec format that provides a higher bandwidth and adaptive bit rate. It features a low latency, constant bit rate, strong anti-interference capability, high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), and wide dynamic range, providing users with an optimized music streaming experience.

The new L2HC has the characteristics of strong anti-interference, high transmission bit rate, and high compatibility. The audio transmission bit rate is extended to 64K-1920Kbps and supports 96kHz/24bit high-definition audio transmission.

The new L2HC standard is cobranded with Huawei FreeBuds Pro 3 TWS wireless headphones. Notably, the company shipped this product in the global market with L2HC 2.0 but domestically, it will ship with L2HC 3.0.

Interestingly, the company is promoting 1.5Mbps of strong Bluetooth transmission bit rate, which is far ahead of Apple.

Faster than Apple:

Apple’s AirPods series uses an AAC codec, which is good. The past AAC has remained unchanged for many years and gradually turned it into less powerful than L2HC. The transmission bit rate is only 320kbps, which makes it difficult to meet everyone’s demand for high-definition sound quality.

Speaking of which, L2HC 3.0 boasts a high transmission bit rate, with a peak bit rate of up to 1920kbps. The new L2HC 3.0 used in Huawei FreeBuds Pro 3 has a transmission bit rate of up to 1.5Mbps. This is four times faster than Apple’s transmission bit rate.

CD-Level:

More importantly, the new L2HC standard is currently the only audio codec standard that exceeds the CD-level lossless music transmission bit rate requirement (1.41Mbps).

Here’s a little bit of information to give some insights about CD-level lossless music. The transmission bit rate represents the data transmitted by audio per second.

The higher the bit rate, the better the sound quality. The industry-recognized CD-level lossless music transmission bit rate 1.41Mbps. When the Bluetooth audio transmission bit rate of the headset exceeds 1.41Mbps, it can be called “CD-level lossless sound quality”. This is why the sound quality of Huawei FreeBuds Pro 3 is called “beyond CD-level lossless”.

So, Huawei FreeBuds Pro 3 users will get a brand new user experience thanks to this audio codec.
