Huawei knocks off Apple, Samsung’s foldable goals with MateBook Fold PC

Huawei has opened an innovative chapter in the foldable trend against its global rivals – Apple and Samsung’s Z Fold, called MateBook Fold PC. The device has somewhat shattered the ‘innovative’ foldable goals of the global phone makers.

The Chinese tech giant has already amazed foldable lovers with a tri-fold handset last year. But this time, the company presented an even aesthetic model in this sector.

On May 19, Huawei surprised its consumers with the all-new MateBook Fold Ultimate Design. The folding screen notebook with a separate keyboard and an 18-inch screen unlocks a new experience in the trendy folding device segment.

Consumers can enjoy four viewing modes in this PC: closure, fold, vertical, and horizontal. Dual-layer OLED, basalt water drop hinge, and an elegant design are the top significant features of the MateBook Fold Ultimate Design.

New Form Factor: Unlike other plain notebooks, the Huawei MateBook Fold PC unveiled a new form factor that many OEMs won’t have thought of. It has a bigger and thinner style than its predecessors and many other laptops on the consumer market. Besides, it features a self-developed OS, free from Windows.

Huawei is, of course, not the first brand to launch a foldable PC. Tech vendors like Asus and Lenovo introduced a folding laptop a couple of years ago. But the Chinese firm is definitely the first to unveil an 18-inch folding screen notebook.

Innovation is the key factor that keeps the MateBook Fold PC ahead of Asus and Lenovo laptops. Huawei’s device is thinner, bigger, and more attractive than the ZenBook 17 Fold OLED and ThinkPad X1 Fold.

Phone makers like Samsung are still struggling to keep up with the pace of innovation. The company is seeking ways to make its foldable thinner than Huawei, Honor.

On the other hand, Apple is yet to step into the foldable field. While several OEMs have launched their first folding device years ago, the iPhone maker is unable to craft one for its consumers.

Samsung is reportedly working on a tri-fold phone, which may launch later this year. On the other hand, Apple is in rumors to unveil a folding device in 2025 or 2026. But for now, the new Huawei MateBook Fold PC has given a tough bang to Apple and Samsung’s foldable goals.
